In His Own Words

  • What do you do (in 5 words or fewer)?

    Make complex stuff compelling.

  • What's your dream project?

Craigslist comes to us because they decide they want to leverage their amazing power to make used stuff cool, accessible and competitive with "brand new." We help them streamline their site and launch a major campaign which redefines how people think about every single purchase.

  • If you had a time machine, what historical moment would you rewrite?

I prefer to think about the future, but if I had to go back… it'd be November 2000, and I go visit my Grandfather in Boynton Beach Florida. We pack some lunches, go out and explain the confusing butterfly ballots to a few hundred seniors. Remind folks to push those damn chads through… He and I stop the invasion of Iraq, get some climate policy rolling, avert the tragedy of the U.S. torture policy, and make my Grandmother proud.

  • How many times a day do you check your email?

I check my email all the time though I have no idea what I'm looking for. I hope to check once a day in the mythic future.

  • What is your biggest fear?

That one day everyone who says "you can't sustain an advertising business on social good projects" will turn out to be right. Thirteen years and still have to shake it from time to time.

  • Are you a nerd?

    I resist. I still resist.

  • What still gives you hope?

The thought that this mad society of ours is getting connected up faster than we are falling apart.

  • What song gets stuck in your head most often?

Baby Beluga. My daughter brought it home from school and it just kinda hung around ever since.
