In Her Own Words

  • What do you do (in 5 words or fewer)?

    Study, Unravel, Reorganize, Translate, Measure.

  • What's the weirdest job you've ever had (before Free Range)?

Making calls for a market research firm. Yup, I interrupted your dinner.

  • What's the one thing in your life that's really important to you but you never quite get to?

Taking time out for artistic and intellectual stimulation. When I hit a museum, attend a lecture, I'm always so glad I did.

  • Tell me about the happiest you've ever been.

My wedding day. It doesn't get much better than partying with all the people you love at once.

  • What still gives you hope?

I get to talk with a lot of people across the U.S. and in some cases around the world through the audience research work I do. This is my favorite part of my job. I'm constantly inspired by the dedication and resolve people have to make their communities and world better.

  • If you could have one magic item what would it be?

When I'm out late at night, I think about how cool it would be if my bed could fly like a magic carpet and come pick me up!

  • What's your dream project?

There are the big dreams you have -- I want to work on the campaign that finally gets the US to address climate change! -- and then there are the gems that find you in the meantime. I've always felt great passion for climate and energy issues, eradicating HIV/AIDS, and improving maternal and child health. But I never gave much thought to hospice care for U.S. Veterans at the end of their lives, until I worked on a campaign with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) that aimed to better this care. After my colleagues and I worked on the branding and messaging, website, a video and other collateral, I got to interview hospice professionals who shared emotional stories of how our collective effort changed the end-of-life experiences of Veterans and their families. That's why I'm here at Free Range -- to make that kind of tangible impact.

  • What’s your favorite board game, and why?

I'm so into Settlers right now. I love that many strategies can be winning ones.
