Overview
After a messaging development process involving stakeholders around the world, the Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA) had finalized its Strategic Compass 2024-2030—a strategy document that would guide the Alliance’s efforts for the next half-decade.
To support the rollout of the new strategy, CLUA needed communications products to explain the new priorities to member foundations, government actors, and other stakeholders at every level of organization.
Between a website overhaul, regional strategy summary documents, revamped presentation decks, and other new materials, the project demanded a partner that could juggle multiple deliverables while fielding feedback from diverse stakeholders with varied and specific needs around copy and design.
We couldn’t wait to get started.
CLUA works with stakeholder groups in five major focus areas (Brazil, Columbia & Peru, Indonesia, Mexico & Central America, and Global), each with its own set of goals, priorities, and terminologies. On top of this, the Alliance itself is composed of six Aligned and Member Foundations, each of which brings unique perspectives to CLUA’s communications strategy.

From the beginning, each deliverable required ongoing and in-depth conversation between Free Range, our contacts at CLUA, and key stakeholders within the CLUA ecosystem.
Through comprehensive interviews and multiple rounds of revision, we refined our approach to satisfy the needs of each group involved.

Messaging refined, we got to work creating the communications materials that would help CLUA share its new strategy with partners and prospects alike.
To ensure CLUA’s web presence reflected the updated priorities, we redesigned and reorganized their website around a more streamlined information architecture. We also built custom modules to support updated page structures.
Working closely with CLUA, we crafted new regional strategy summary documents for each of the Alliance’s five major focus areas (Brazil, Columbia & Peru, Indonesia, Mexico & Central America, and Global), and provided a comprehensive strategy deck.

Today, CLUA continues to rely on the materials we developed to spread awareness of its Strategic Compass 2024-2030.
